Of course it was Sébastien’s fault.  He was always telling Christoph stories of the amusing little kittens his grandmother had had at her summer home in the English countryside.  The rather Victorian image of a cute kitten with a ball of yarn had combined with the Egyptian reverence for feline beasts, and the thought had rooted itself deeply in Christoph’s head, making him want a cat.

So on their third anniversary, Sébastien had come home with a grey tabby kitten.

“Oh, Bastien!” Christoph had gushed.  “It’s perfect!”

Sébastien hummed the opening phrase of Memory as he entered his apartment.

“Oh, Bastien...” a strained voice called from the kitchen.

He quirked an eyebrow as he hung up his coat and scarf.  He was a firm believer in avoiding fights with Christoph; no one was won in the end, but the boy could hold one hell of a grudge.

“Yes, dear?”  He entered the kitchen and stopped short.  He blinked several times to make sure he was actually seeing the scene before him.

Christoph sighed as he heard the tell tale crash of books.  A moment later, a long, silver tabby kitten came streaking into the kitchen and slid to a stop just in front of his food bowls.

Christoph gave the kitten—Argent, by Bastien’s suggestion--an angry glare and hurried off to his bedroom.

Heh, not very steampunk-y. But it's my first design for my character in a Steampunk LARP I'm working on right now. I've already got a ideas for a few silly costumes but I'm trying to get my basic look down first.

Jasper's your typical-but-not-really orphaned street urchin. He pretends he supports himself with small time conning and pickpocketing, but he's more educated than he lets on.
